Ian and Sheila Barrodale
Ian and Sheila founded their wholly-owned Barrodale Computing Services
(BCS) in 1978 to provide R & D consulting services and develop customized
computer software for scientists, engineers, and other technical computer
users. Dr. Barrodale was formerly a Professor of Mathematics and Founding
Chair of the Computer Science Department at the University of Victoria.

BCS has successfully completed more than 350 contracts. Many of these
projects have been with the Canadian Department of National Defence; other
clients include Ministries and Crown Corporations of the Government of
British Columbia, various Canadian Federal Government Departments, as

mathematical and statistical analysis, simulation, development and testing

Ralph and Linda Bodine
Mr. Bodine, a graduate of Princeton University, is Chairman Emeritus of

He has played a leadership role in the largest fruit-growers organizations
of the United States, and was appointed by President George Bush (Senior)
as the Chairman of the President’s Council on Rural America for
1990-91. Since moving to Victoria in 1993, the Bodines have become great

first elected for London West as a Member of Parliament in 1968, and served
for twelve years in many cabinet postings, including Minister of Public
Works, Science and Technology, and President of the Treasury Board, as
well as being the Prime Minister’s Senior political Advisor for
Ontario. In the private sector Mr. Buchanan was Chairman of CNG Fuel systems
for several years. He is the President of Ensign Chrysler Dodge Jeep in
Victoria, and owns and operates the Silver Star Resort in Vernon, BC.

Harry Davis
Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queens
University, and has completed numerous post-graduate courses in business
and computer science, with General Electric, IBM and Intel.

Ivan and Ann Marie Head
Professor Head (recently deceased) was perhaps Canada’s leading
Internationalist of the Twentieth Century. Professor of Law Emeritus and
Senior Fellow of The Liu Centre for the Study of Global Issues, University
of British Columbia (of which he was Founding Director), he joined the
faculty of UBC as Professor of Law and Political Science following three
terms as President of Canada’s International Development Research
Centre (IDRC) in the period 1978-1991.

From 1968 to 1978, he served as
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Canada, for the greater part
of that time with special responsibility for foreign policy and the conduct
of international relations. In that role, he advised Prime Minister Pierre
Elliott Trudeau in his Commonwealth and foreign activities, acted as the
Prime Minister's special representative in a number of missions abroad,
and served on Canadian delegations to a large number of international
conferences. Professor Head was the author of a number of books and monographs
on subjects of legal scholarship as well as foreign and development policy.
He served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Food
Policy Research Institute, as a Commissioner of the Independent Commission
on International Humanitarian Issues, and as a member of the High Level
Review Committee of the Inter-American Development Bank. He was Chairman
of the Canada 21 Council on Common Security in the Twenty First Century,
and Co-Chairman of the Chancellor's Commission on the Governance of the
University of the West Indies. He currently serves as a member of the
Board of the Academy for Educational Development in Washington, D.C. Professor
Head is a Senior Fellow of the Salzburg Seminar, an Officer of the Order
of Canada, a Federal Queen's Counsel, and the recipient of a number of
honors from foreign governments and international bodies as well as honorary
doctorate degrees from ten universities in Canada and three other countries.
His most recent books are “On a Hinge of History; the Mutual Vulnerability
of South and North" and (with Pierre Trudeau) “The Canadian

Garrett and Helen Lambert
Formerly professor in the MBA program and Advisor to the President on
Government Relations at the University of Victoria, Garrett is also President
of GLI Associates Inc. and has served as a Director on several corporate

Centre for Asia Pacific Initiatives, a member of the Pacific Council on
Economic Policy, and was a member of the Prime Minister’s Expert
Panel on Canada’s Role in International Science and Technology,
and the “Directions III Panel, Innovative Thinking on the Future
of the Canadian Health Care System”. Until 1997, Mr. Lambert was
one of Canada’s highest ranking diplomats and public servants. His

in Poland and East Germany, West Germany, and Iran. In Canada, Mr. Lambert

the USA during the establishment of the Free Trade Agreement, and Director
General at the Canadian International Development Agency.
Hugh Mogensen
Mr. Mogensen is a distinguished Canadian geologist and businessman who
has established, managed and directed numerous oil and gas and mining
companies in Canada and the United States.

He is currently an active investor
with a particular interest in start-up companies. Since retiring to Victoria
in 1992, he has been a strong supporter of the community, particularly
in the arts and causes related to the well-being of children. His former
positions include: 1971 - Manager, International Operations for Norcen
Energy Resources Ltd.; 1979 - President and CEO of Campbell Resources
Ltd.; 1980 President, and a year later Chairman of the Board of Inverness
Petroleum Ltd. In 1982 he established a successful family-owned oil and
gas company and around the same time he established a consulting company
to manage a large exploration project on Canada lands in the Northwest
Territories and offshore Newfoundland. In 1986 Hugh and his wife 'retired'
to Victoria where he continued his consulting activities and for a few
years became increasingly involved in assisting with the financing of
several mining companies. By 1997 he was serving on the Boards of Directors
of 15 natural resource companies, both oil and mining.
David Strong
From 1990 to 2000 Dr. Strong held the position of President and Vice-Chancellor
at the University of Victoria (UVic), which during his tenure has twice
been ranked as Canada’s number one comprehensive university.

Vancouver from 1965-1970, of Lake Ontario Steel from 1970-1975, of Chaparral
Steel in Dallas, Texas, from 1975-1982 and of Associated Materials Incorporated,
also of Dallas, to the present. During the process he worked his way up
the ownership ladder to the point where he is majority owner of Associated
Materials, leading it to its current position with annual sales slightly
in excess of US$500 million. He and his wife Margot have been active in
the performing arts, particularly Opera and Symphony and in arts education,
with his being recognized for both his philanthropy and appreciation of
music by an Honorary Doctorate in Performing Arts.
