LearningWise Inc. is headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada,
founded by a group of individuals who are strongly committed to expanding
educational opportunities for people of BC, Canada, and the World.
1. History
Phase I: LearningWise
Inc. (LINC) has been in existence since 2000, founded
with a Phase-I orientation towards delivery of degree programs, with different
Canadian institutions, in countries of Asia. We have now moved on to Phase-II.
Phase-II: University
Canada West (UCW) was established as a division of
LINC, on August 9th, 2004.
Phase-III: LearningWise
International Inc. was incorporated as a LINC subsidiary
on November 16, 2004. Its mandate is to market globally, with particular
focus in Asia where the student population is growing, a number of different
education and training programs, including those of UCW.
2. Mission
LINC, through UCW and its other divisions, proposes to provide highest
quality arts and science and professional degrees, college diplomas and
training certificates programs, and high school diplomas, in Canada and
internationally.
3. Organization
LINC, as shown in Fig. 1, is governed by a Board
of Directors whose responsibility is to ensure the
fiscal and corporate integrity of the Company. In that sense it would
be analogous to the Boards of Governors of public-sector universities.
The Board of Directors appoints, and is advised overall by an International
Advisory Board, and on university matters by an
Academic Council.
The latter would be akin to the Senate of other Canadian universities,
assuring academic quality control, while the LINC’s founding shareholders
are consulted from time to time, especially at the Company’s Annual
General Meetings, and hence are referred to as Founders
and Strategic Advisors.
