Dear Reader,
I am delighted to introduce you to University
Canada West (UCW), Canada’s first private University established
under the Degree authorization Act of the Government of British Columbia.
We offer new and exciting degree programs with special added value, including:
- Great programs, modern orientation and approach, wireless
links throughout campus.
- Lower costs, thousands of dollars less than the typical
four-year program because of the shorter time required for graduation.
- The Three-Year undergraduate degree: appeals to students
as a real alternative to established approaches, although comprising
the full 40-courses program of other Canadian (four-year) degrees.
- The Fast-Learning Orientation of students towards
the special aspects of our approach and of university life: study skills,
teamwork, technology use, time-management, and other not strictly academic,
but essential, skills.
- The Capstone Courses in the final semester: “big
picture” concepts, focused on integrating students’ specialized
knowledge and skills, ensuring that they graduate from UCW with broad
understanding of the World and its issues.
- The Quarter System: 12-week terms allow significant
flexibility.
- A Content Coach for every course for every 50 students.
Skills Coaches will work with Learning Teams to enhance
their ability in written and oral communication, teamwork and leadership,
and enterprise.
- Specialty Learning Teams are chosen depending upon
the students’ desired concentration, substantially reinforcing
the focus and extending the contact hours of learning.
- Program Assistants provide strong classroom and technical
support, assist professors and students to ensure that Internet access
as well as face-to-face teaching of course content and other logistical
matters are handled effectively.
The UCW MBA program is available in three options. It can be taken entirely on campus and face to face over a twelve -month period, or with a mixture of on-site and on-line courses over a two-year period. Students who already have a BCom or BBA degree will be eligible to do the on-site/on-line program in one year.
The UCW Academies are a new and fast-growing division of LearningWise
Inc., which will be offering programs in Languages (especially a full
range of ESL courses), Fine Arts and Design (including Communications
Design, Fashion Design, Building/Architectural Design, Interior Design,
Film Studies and Acting, and others), Spa Management, Business and Management
(including Hotel Management, and Security and Transportation. These will
range from single-course Certificate to two- and three-year Diploma programs,
some of which will be eligible for credit towards our UCW Degrees.
